Infrastructure - Capital Improvement Projects (455.2.16 Wildcat Creek Restoration Evaluation behind Plaza San Pablo) is an adopted policy item under the FY 2018-21 City Council Priority Workplan, effective November 1, 2017 and revised June 18, 2018.


CEQA Compliance Statement
This demolition project is part of the proposed project Wildcat Creek Restoration and Greenway Trail Project (WCC-TRL). CEQA review was completed in 2013 and it was determined to be categorically exempt in accordance with Sections 15304 and 15333 of the CEQA Guidelines, on the basis that this project involves minor alterations to land and small habitat restoration.


BACKGROUND
Project Information
2023 Vale Road consists of two building facilities, a one-story bungalow and two-story medical building. This portion of the Wildcat Creek Project aims to demolish and abate the approximately 6,900 square foot, one-story bungalow building. Once demolished, the existing building will make way for a new parking lot, which will be constructed as part of the larger Wildcat Creek Restoration and Greenway Trail Project.

City staff first solicited the services of an environmental consultant who gathered, sampled and tested hazardous materials such asbestos and lead from the existing building. Staff also prepared the bid documents. On November 27, 2018, the bid documents were advertised over a three-week period to fulfill this project.
