BACKGROUND
On September 24, 2018 the City Manager received a letter from Ms. Lorna Padia Markus, Great Futures Breakfast Chair for the Boys & Girls Club of Contra Costa, in El Sobrante. The Boys & Girls Clubs of El Sobrante and The Diablo Valley unified as one organization in 2017 in support of a vision to serve more youth with a greater impact throughout Contra Costa County. Their breakfast event "Open the Door to a Great Future" will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Crockett Community Center in Crockett, CA. The Master of Ceremonies is Dick Callahan, the current announcer for the Oakland A's and former announcer for the Golden State Warriors. The Keynote Speaker is Dave Stewart, MLB All-Star and former member of the Boys & Girls Club. Attendees will also have an opportunity to hear inspiring stories from community and business honorees as well as the youth of the year candidate.
