BACKGROUND

The Priority Oriented Policing (POP) Unit is tasked with working with local businesses and residents to address priority issues which impact our community. These issues include addressing licensed alcohol establishments within San Pablo and the crime associated with alcohol in those areas.

The City of San Pablo has 61 alcohol outlets within 2.6 square miles. The large majority of problem licensees are concentrated in areas that have both the highest crime rates and the greatest number of off-sale premises (alcohol sold to be consumed off the premises, such as liquor stores).

In past years, the City of San Pablo successfully entered into agreements with the California Alcohol Beverage Control ("ABC") as part of their "Grant Assistance to Local Law Enforcement Program.
