Major Policy Goals: Enhance Community Resilience and Build a Healthy Community are adopted policy items under the FY 2023-25 Council Priority Workplan, effective May 1, 2023.

BACKGROUND
On February 20, 2024, the City Manager's Office received a request for sponsorship from the Kiwanis Club of San Pablo to support its Cinco de Mayo Tradicion y Alegria Festival. The event is scheduled on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2:30pm to 7:00pm at El Palenque Grill (1439 23rd St.) and is open to the public. The entertainment will include at least four bands, and other entertainers. There will also be games for children and food being sold. Local businesses and non-profit agencies will be there to sell products and distribute information. The Cinco de Mayo Tradicion y Alegria Festival is meant to be a fun and safe place for the community to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. The Kiwanis Club of San Pablo is a non-profit, civic, and charitable organization dedicated to uniting families and communities. The mission of the Kiwanis Club of San Pablo is to advance a better life for all children, youth, and adults.

With an approved City Council event sponsorship, public funds being approved to this first-time event sponsor must ensure that the scheduled special event will be non-exclusive and open to the general public. Additionally, an approved event sponsorship will also authorize the temporary use of the City's official City logo for marketing purposes for this special event only.
