BACKGROUND
The City of San Pablo pays annual membership dues to the League of California Cities (known as the League or Cal Cities) which is an annual budgeted expense in the adopted FY 2023-2024 Annual Operating Budget. The membership dues generally provide all local cities the following benefits and services at an affordable cost:
• Achieving Strong Results in advocacy before the State Legislature, regulatory agencies and courts
• Advancing the Mission of local control
• California Cities Work Stronger Together in the sharing of best practices, new ideas and professional development
Cal Cities uses a customary formula in the League’s By-Laws based on a city’s per capita population to calculate the annual membership dues. For additional information on the League’s annual membership dues calculation, please go to the attached link:

For Calendar Year 2024, the City of San Pablo’s annual League membership dues are $14,367.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted annually under the adopted FY 2023-24 Annual Operating Budget/City Council Departmental budget (No. 100-1110-43300).
