BACKGROUND
On July 14, 2022, the City Manager’s Office received a request for sponsorship from the Kiwanis Club of San Pablo to support its San Pablo United Backpack Giveaway event (San Pablo United Event). The event is scheduled on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the San Pablo Library and is open to the public. The sponsorship is subject to obtaining a Special Event Permit from the San Pablo Police Department. The Kiwanis Club of San Pablo is a non-profit, civic, and charitable organization where service is a key factor in uniting families and communities. The mission of the Kiwanis Club of San Pablo is to advance a better life for all children, youth, and adults.
Following City Council approval by majority vote, the event sponsor is authorized to use the City’s logo as an event co-sponsor, and City staff may also broadcast the event to the community through the City’s social media networks for public information purposes.
FISCAL IMPACT
$30,000 has been budgeted for Annual Event Sponsorships for FY 2022-23 Annual Operating Budget under the City Council’s budget (100-1110-44050). The authorized sponsorship in the amount of $1,000 will be deducted from this expense balance leaving a remaining balance of $21,500 for the remainder of FY 2022-23 period for future sponsorships by the City Council.
