The Measure Q and Measure K Citizens Oversight Committee Vacancies is not a specific priority included in the Adopted FY 2019-21 Council Priority Workplan, as amended May 18, 2020 but the Committee supports several of the adopted Major Policy Goals.

BACKGROUND
Since July 2019, one vacancy has remained on the Measures Q & K Citizen Oversight Committee.

Under the terms of the Measure K ballot measure adopted by local voters in June 2014, a Citizens' Oversight Committee (Committee) of at least five members is required. The members shall consist of San Pablo residents or representatives of San Pablo businesses. Two current Committee members, Dr. Raynato Castro and Ms. Lorena Medel, have their terms expiring at the end of May 2020.

Dr. Raynato Castro has expressed his desire to remain an active member on the Citizens' Oversight Committee for another three-year term. The term will be effective May 2020 through May 2023. As defined in the Guidelines & Criteria for the Committee, Dr. Castro has met the requirement as his dental practice is located in the City of San Pablo.

San Pablo resident, Ms. Lorena Medel has expressed her desire to not renew her Committee appointment for another three-year term. Ms. Medel wishes to thank the City Council and staff for being able to serve on the Committee. As a result, Staff will post a Notice of Vacancy for the two remaining vacancies (one current open vacancy and Ms. Medel's vacated seat), and solicit applications from eligible members of the community.
