BACKGROUND
The City Manager’s Office received an email request from William VanDyk of the San Pablo Rotary Club on October 1, 2019, requesting City Council to consider an event sponsorship in the amount of $1,000 for the San Pablo Rotary Club’s 13th Annual Holiday in the Park on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 in the Davis Park Multipurpose Room and Senior Center.
The San Pablo Rotary Club has previously served the community a holiday meal, provided gifts and coats for attendees and would like to continue their tradition with the support of the San Pablo City Council. This holiday season the San Pablo Rotary Club will not serve holiday meals, but will donate bikes, hats and scarfs, care packages and a host of other items to the Brookside Shelter and Calli’s House. San Pablo Rotary Club members and other volunteers use this opportunity for civic engagement by giving back to the San Pablo community during the holiday season. The Rotary Club has also partnered with Read Aloud Books and also invites San Pablo staff to participate.
The proposed resolution authorizes the City Manager to issue a $1,000 event sponsorship to the San Pablo Rotary Club for their 13th Annual Holiday in the Park event on Wednesday, December 25, 2019. It should also be noted that Mayor Kinney has a conflict as an incoming officer of the San Pablo Rotary and it is expected that he will not participate in the discussion of this item.
FISCAL IMPACT
If authorized, event sponsorship in the amount of $1,000 will be deducted from this expense balance leaving a remaining balance of $7,900 for the remainder of the FY 2019/20 period for future sponsorships by the Council. Funding for this type of activity is already budgeted in the FY 2018-21 Four-Year Quadrennial Operating Budget - City Council Department (100-1110-44050).
