BACKGROUND
Rising Sun Center for Opportunity-formerly known as the Rising Sun Energy Center-is a non-profit organization that advances green job training, youth and adult employment, and residential building efficiency. This presentation will discuss the Rising Sun Center for Opportunity’s “Climate Careers” Program-formerly known as the “California Youth Energy Services” (CYES) program-which hires and trains local youth to provide Green House Calls, and the results of the Green House Calls that were provided to San Pablo residents during the summer of 2018. Additionally, the presentation will outline the planned Green House Calls to be provided during summer of 2019.
Green House Calls are a no-cost service available to Bay Area residents through funding from the Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN). At a Green House Call, residents will receive an energy and water audit of their home with the installation of free energy and water-saving gifts, including LED light bulbs, efficient showerheads, smart power strips and more.
FISCAL IMPACT
This is an informational item only; therefore, the only fiscal impact is staff time to write and coordinate the presentation from the Rising Sun Center for Opportunity.
