BACKGROUND
The Community Services Department currently offers year round field rentals to the community at Davis Park. The park is used for youth baseball and football leagues, community picnics, recreational programming and community use on a daily basis.
Recreation staff have been accepted to collaborate with the Junior Giants program which will start in summer 2019 where City staff will be able to offer youth baseball programs to over 200 youth and involve the community to volunteer for this robust program.
City staff is seeking approval to apply for a grant that would allow for specific field refurbishments which could include items such as: a new infield with sod and infield dirt, a new pitcher's mound, new home plate and batter's boxes, new bases and anchors, new fencing and/or backstop, and possibly a new scoreboard.
The Scotts Field Refurbishment Grant Applications are due by February 28, 2019. It is anticipated that grant decisions will be announced by April 30, 2019 with project implementation to be complete by July 2019.
