BACKGROUND
Former Planning Commissioner Rita Xavier was elected to the City Council in the November 2018 election and as such is no longer eligible to serve on the Planning Commission. Staff recommends that a vacancy on the Planning Commission be declared and a Notice of Vacancy posted for a minimum of 20 days, which would allow time for the City Clerk to receive applications. The deadline to receive applications would be January 7, 2019 by 6:00pm in the City Clerk’s office. The Notice of Vacancy was posted on December 11, 2018, the day after Councilmember Xavier took her seat on the City Council.
In order to ensure continuity, the interviews of applicants will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019.
