BACKGROUND

Mayor Calloway’s presence was requested to be a keynote speaker at a Women’s Equality Day Celebration in Kaiserslautern, Germany on August 30, 2018. The event is hosted by the 21st Theater Sustainment Command (21st TSC), a part of the United States Army Europe, for the Kaiserslautern Military Community, and 21st TSC has agreed to arrange and pay for Mayor Calloway’s travel costs.  Kaiserslautern Military Community is a community of Americans living in and around Kaiserslautern, Germany supporting the United States Army, and is the largest U.S. military command outside of the United States.

Women’s Equality Day is celebrated in the United States on August 26 to commemorate the 1920 adoption of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which prohibits the states and the federal government from denying the right to vote citizens of the United States on the basis of sex.

The attached Certificate of Special Recognition was prepared, signed by the mayor, and presented at the August 30th event.
