BACKGROUND
On Tuesday, July 17, 2018 the City Manager received an email request for a $400 sponsorship from Mr. Ben Gannon, resident of San Pablo and graduate of Richmond High School. Mr. Gannon attends Dakota Wesleyan University in South Dakota on a partial football scholarship studying Athletic Training/Sports Medicine. Once Mr. Gannon receives his degree, he hopes to become a Master Athletic Trainer and return to Richmond High School as a football coach.
Dakota Wesleyan University requires that each student athlete find a $400 scholarship/ sponsorship to assist in paying for team travel and equipment. Helping to ensure that San Pablo residents such as Mr. Gannon can maintain active lifestyles and help others maintain active lifestyles is consistent with the City Council's Priority Strategic Initiative on Healthy Eating Active Living. Dakota Wesleyan University has provided the necessary proof of tax exempt organization status, and W-9 form to serve as the recipient and fiscal agent for this sponsorship consideration for Mr. Ben Gannon. The City of San Pablo will be listed as his sponsor on his online student athlete profile.
