BACKGROUND
On November 30, 2017 Rafael Torres, President of San Pablo United Youth Soccer Club (SPUYSC), submitted a letter of request to the City Manager requesting the waiver of fees for Rumrill Sports Park (Fields 1, 2, 3 and the practice field):
• Rumrill Sports Park from August 6, 2018 thru November 16, 2018
o Monday - Friday from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
o Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
SPUYSC is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization dedicated to the youth and families in the City of San Pablo. They provide the opportunity to play soccer to approximately 200 boys and girls ages 3 to 18 years. Through the sport of soccer, the SPUYSC has been able to increase active healthy participation for participants in an outdoor environment. SPUYSC has also been able to promote sportsmanship, leadership and teambuilding skills.
The SPUYSC is attempting to reassure families that by being in partnership with the City of San Pablo that children will be protected regardless of their religion, race, gender, or immigration status and that no children are left behind due to socioeconomic disadvantages.
Community Services Standing Committee Recommendation
On June 11, 2018, this item was taken before the Community Services Standing Committee (Morris/Calloway) for their review where they unanimously supported the recommendation to move forward to City Council to approve the fee waivers requested by San Pablo United Youth Soccer Club for the summer/fall season ending December 10, 2018.
FISCAL IMPACT
The fiscal impact for FY 2018/19 (2018 summer/fall season) will be subsidizing approximately $10,860 in rental revenue for Rumrill Sports Park.
