CEQA Compliance Statement
Staff evaluation of the project with respect to the California Environmental Quality Act has recommended that it be found to be categorically exempt under Section 15301[h], "Existing Facilities," of the CEQA guidelines, on the basis that the project involves the maintenance and minor alteration of existing public facilities with no expansion in use.
BACKGROUND
Multiple departments within the City of San Pablo have been using the vacated Vista School located at 2600 Moraga Road in the City of San Pablo for storage and as a Police Training Center. Due to the plan to sell 2600 Moraga Road, it is the intent of the City to move the Police Department functions at that site to the leased property at 2300 El Portal Drive ("old Library") which will require minor alterations to house these functions.
FISCAL IMPACT
The projected cost to vacate 2600 Moraga Road and improve 2300 El Portal Drive is $100,000. Funding in the amount of $50,000 is currently available in the FY 2017/18 CIP project budget for the Corp Yard Small Shop Building project (320-3200-43600-CYD-SHP), which will be utilized for facility improvements at the old Library.
