BACKGROUND
A vacancy occurred on the Planning Commission due to the expiration of current Commissioner Rita Xavier’s term on September 3, 2017.
On September 5, 2017, the City Council authorized that a Notice of Vacancy be posted for a minimum of 20 days, which was posted at City Hall, the Senior Center and the Library. The deadline to receive and accept applications for the Planning Commission was by 6:00 pm on Monday, September 25, 2017; none were received by the deadline. However, Ms. Xavier submitted a letter and application to the City Clerk’s Office on August 8, 2017 indicating her desire to continue her service on the Commission (see attached).
Therefore, staff recommends that Rita Xavier’s request for reappointment to the Planning Commission be approved for a new four-year term (September 2017 through September 2021).
