BACKGROUND
On Tuesday, July 18, 2017 the City Manager received an email request for a $2,500 sponsorship from Ms. Erica Freeman on behalf of Benito Delgado-Olson, Executive Director & Founder of Supply.org (formally K to College). Supply.org is a nonprofit organization that operates the largest charitable basic needs supply program in California.

Nearly 95% of students at Lake Elementary are enrolled in the free and reduced price meal program. These students and families struggle to obtain basic school supplies such as paper, pencils and art materials. Without supplies, kids can not complete both classwork and homework.

For the past several years Supply.org, as K to College has partnered with the City of San Pablo Community Grant Foundation to provide all students at Lake Elementary School with comprehensive school supply kits valued at $65 each. Combined with corporate sponsorships and substantial in-kind donation, the City's sponsorship will provide material worth $7,500 to restock the classrooms at Lake Elementary.

The distribution event will run similarly to the events held at Lake Elementary School in previous years. Supply.org will purchase, assemble and deliver the school supply kits in the Lake Elementary School cafeteria.
