BACKGROUND
On March 6, 2017, the San Pablo City Council adopted Resolution #2017-045 that reaffirmed the San Pablo Police Department's general order outlining its obligations with regard to Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Under this item, the City Council discussed dissemination of the newly adopted policy to the entire San Pablo community for public information purposes, thereby, to reduce fear and anxiety in the community over the recent issues surrounding immigration enforcement by federal authorities, and to re-assure all residents of the role of the San Pablo's Police Department in focusing on the need for community trust and public safety.

Based on this directive by the City Council, the City Manager has prepared an Official City of San Pablo Statement on Federal Immigration Enforcement for mass mailing publication to reflect the City Council's adopted policy under Resolution #2017-045 which was adopted by a majority vote of the City Council. The official statement developed for mass mailing publication includes as the undersigned: "City of San Pablo City Council" in addition to the City Manager and Acting Police Chief as signatories (see attachments in English and Spanish).
