BACKGROUND

Each year, the month of October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This observance aims to raise public awareness about the impact of breast cancer, promote early detection through regular screenings, support those affected by the disease, and encourage continued research and education efforts to find a cure.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the United States and remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths. According to the American Cancer Society, approximately one in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Early detection through mammography, self-examinations, and improved treatment options has significantly increased survival rates.
