Building a Healthy Community, Foster college and career readiness, education, youth leadership, and City/Contra Costa College/WCCUSD Partnerships is major policy goal contained in the FY 2025-27 City Council Priority Workplan, effective April 7, 2025.
BACKGROUND
During a recent meeting with a staff member from Contra Costa College (CCC), Community Services Director Greg Dwyer had the pleasure of learning about the remarkable achievements of one of their professors, Mark Wong. Professor Wong has not only won a prestigious regional award but was also competing against five other exceptional candidates from across the Nation.
Impressed by his background and significant contributions to the local community college, Mr. Dwyer believed that Professor Wong's accolades and accomplishments deserve formal recognition.
On January 26, 2026, this request was taken before the City Council and adopted on the consent calendar to move forward and to honor Professor Wong with a proclamation at the upcoming City Council meeting on February 2, 2026, highlighting his recent career achievements.
