FY 2023-2025 Council Priority Workplan Compliance Statements:
The execution of an agreement for the installation and maintenance of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) is not included in the City Council's Priority Workplan but is recommended to enhance the safety of City employees, residents, and visitors by ensuring reliable emergency response capabilities during potential medical emergencies.
BACKGROUND
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are critical life-saving devices designed to provide rapid emergency response during incidents of sudden cardiac arrest. Strategically placing AEDs throughout City facilities improves emergency preparedness and enhances the safety of employees, residents, and visitors by increasing access to immediate defibrillation when needed.
To ensure the City's AED program remains compliant, reliable, and operational, staff solicited a proposal from Cintas Corporation No. 2 (Cintas) to provide a comprehensive AED management program. Under the proposed agreement, Cintas will install and maintain sixteen (16) AED units located at multiple City facilities. Services include installation, routine inspections, replacement of expired batteries and electrode pads, ongoing monitoring, preventative maintenance, and regulatory compliance support to ensure the devices remain rescue-ready throughout the term of the agreement.
