BACKGROUND
On September 9, 2025, the City Manager received an email from Ms. Sara Marcellino of the Contra Costa College Foundation requesting a sponsorship for the Foundations' San Pablo Forward Scholarship Program. The program provides scholarships for San Pablo residents who are transferring to a four-year university, have a GPA of at least 2.5, and studying any major. The sponsorship will provide $5,000 to the San Pablo Forward Scholarship for the 2025-2026 school year and $2,500 to the Contra Costa College Foundation.
The San Pablo Forward Scholarship (formerly the San Pablo Scholars Scholarship) will provide ten students each with a $1,000 scholarship. In addition to the criteria above, considerations could include: school involvement, community service, volunteerism, civic engagement and equity
FISCAL IMPACT
A total of $30,000 has been budgeted for Event Annual Sponsorships for FY 2025-26 Annual Operating Budget under the City Council's budget (100-1110-44050).
