FY 2025-2027 Council Priority Workplan Compliance Statements:

Build a Healthy Community and Improve Public Safety are major policy goals contained in the FY 2025-27 City Council Priority Workplan, effective April 7, 2025.

BACKGROUND

Instituted in 1960 by the American Public Works Association (APWA), National Public Works Week is a time to celebrate the thousands of men and women in North America who provide and maintain the infrastructure and services collectively known as public works, especially the twenty-seven (27) exceptional Public Works staff here in the City of San Pablo.

Public works professional help communities remain strong by providing an infrastructure of services in transportation, water, wastewater, and stormwater treatment, public buildings and spaces, parks and grounds, emergency management and first response, solid waste, and right-of-way management.  They are what make communities great places to live and work.  Please recognize the small army - very small with a total of 27 maintenance workers, analysts, clerks, inspectors, and engineers - who provide this collection of services to the City of San Pablo’ businesses and residents.

This year 2025 marks the 65th celebration of National Public Works Week.  The request to issue the proclamation was unanimously approved by City Council at its May 5, 2025 City Council meeting.
