Recommendation

Approve by Minute Order; designate Mayor Ponce as the Voting Delegate and City Attorney Hickey as the Alternate Voting Delegate.

Body

Compliance statements

This action is not included under the FY2023-25 Council Priority Workplan but is an operational responsibility as a member of the League of California Cities (League).

BACKGROUND

The League of California Cities (League) is requesting the names of the Council-approved voting delegate and alternate(s) for the Friday, October 18, 2024 Annual Business Meeting where the membership takes action on conference resolutions (see attached notice from the League of California Cities). The City Council must designate one voting delegate and may authorize up to two alternates.

The League’s delegation procedures are intended to ensure the integrity of the voting process at the Annual Business Meeting.  At this time, both Mayor Ponce and City Attorney Hickey are registered to attend the Conference. Additional voting instructions may be issued by the League of California Cities, but the need to timely designate a Voting Delegate and an optional Voting Delegate Alternate remains the same.

FISCAL IMPACT

None associated with this action as the City has already paid for its membership for this year, which is included in the current budget, and both Mayor Ponce and City Attorney Hickey will register to attend the Conference.
