COUNCIL PRIORITY WORKPLAN statement

Build a Healthy Community is a major policy goal in the recently adopted City Council Priority Work Plan FY 2025-27, adopted April 7, 2025.

BACKGROUND

On February 13, 2026 the City received a request from Stan Massie, Volunteer for American Red Cross Northern California Coastal Region by way of Ronnie Mills, District Coordinator for the Office of Supervisor John Gioia and member of the Contra Costa County Red Cross Leadership, to issue a proclamation acknowledging the month of March as American Red Cross Month. The City Council has previously approved such proclamation requests in recent years. Mr. Mills is also requesting a formal presentation of the proclamation at the next City Council meeting.

Procedurally, the City Council must approve requests for Proclamations by majority vote by minute order prior to official issuance.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact related to this agenda item other than staff time spent to create the Proclamation.
