BACKGROUND
The City Council Priority Workplan (Workplan) is an annual policy making document established by majority vote of the City Council for purposes of providing policy direction for implementation by the City Manager, effective July 1st of each fiscal year period. Once adopted, the City Manager directs all City resources and staffing, beyond basic operational and legal requirements, toward adopted policy areas/items. Periodic amendments are made following adoption throughout the fiscal year. The Workplan consists the following policy components and subsequent City Council action by unanimous minute action vote on November 1, 2017, as follows:

2019 Strategic Planning Workshop Proposed
Due to the recent certification of the November 6, 2018 election results, a new City Council has been affirmed and established, and officers selected pursuant to Resolution 2018-154, effective December 10, 2018.
Commensurate with any new City Council, the City Manager recommends that the new City Council proceed with formally directing the City Manager to prepare and schedule a Strategic Planning Workshop for the purposes of amending the adopted FY 2018/19 City Council Priority Workplan. The Workshop would be scheduled on Monday, February 11, 2019 from 12:00 noon - 5:00 pm under a Special City Council meeting format.
For scheduling purposes, the City Manager recommends that the date and time be affirmed by majority vote via minute action to ensure proper planning and preparation by City staff for administration and facilitation of the Workshop.
FISCAL IMPACT
None associated with this report. Costs for the workshop will come from already budgeted funds.
