BACKGROUND
On December 31, 2018, San Pablo Economic Development Corporation (SPEDC) Board of Directors will have one (1) scheduled vacancy following the expiration of the current term of SPEDC Board member Kathy Chao Rothberg, effective December 31, 2018.
On December 10, 2018, SPEDC Executive Director Leslay Choy notified the City Manager of the procedure for City Council appointees for the forthcoming SPEDC Board of Directors vacancy pursuant to Article II.B. of the adopted SPEDC By-laws (See Attachment) for a two-year staggered term (from January 2019 - January 2021). SPEDC Board Chair Adam Novickas has formally invited the San Pablo City Council to nominate candidates to fill the City appointee vacancy at its earliest convenience due to its upcoming scheduled annual meeting for election of all SPEDC Board of Directors and Members/Officers on January 23, 2019. Currently, SPEDC Board member and City appointee Genoveva Garcia Calloway is representing the City Council of the SPEDC Board of Directors until her term expires in December 31, 2019.
Candidate Nomination Procedure
The City Manager recommends the following application and nomination procedure for one (1) City Appointee vacancy to the SPEDC Board of Directors, with scheduled milestones to be affirmed by adopted Resolution, as follows:

Once all applications/letters of interest are received by the deadline, the City Manager will prepare a list of potential candidates for formal consideration and nomination by the City Council by adopted Resolution at their regular meeting scheduled on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Following formal nomination by adopted Resolution by the City Council, the nominated City appointee will be submitted for formal election to the SPEDC Board of Directors for their election of Members/Officers at its annual meeting on January 23, 2019.
