The City Manager recommends establishment of an Early Education Task Force Ad-Hoc Subcommittee and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize Ad-Hoc Subcommittee for Calendar Year 2018, with expiration dates of December 31, 2018, and pursuant to San Pablo Municipal Code (PSMC) 2.16.070 requirements.

BACKGROUND

On November 6, 2017, the City Council adopted Resolution #2017-213 which incorporated a Summary Final Report from Management Partners, Inc. to be incorporated into the Final Adopted Version of the new FY 2018-21 City Council Priority Workplan (Workplan), ratified and effective November 1, 2017.

 

Early Education Task Force To Strengthen Youth Education Outcomes

One of the City Council’s Top Priorities added to the new Workplan was establishment of a new task force to address the issues of early childhood literacy in the City.  The City Manager is requesting a new temporary, ad-hoc Subcommittee be established consisting of two (2) City Councilmembers to assist with policy development and task force implementation during Calendar Year 2018, with an expiration date of December 31, 2018.  City Council appointments would be made to the Subcommittee in January 2018 pursuant to SPMC 2.16.070 requirements.

 

2017 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation/Culture of Health Prize

In September 2017, the City of San Pablo was selected as a “2017 Culture of Health Prize” community by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and received a one-time $25,000 grant funding award.   The City Manager is requesting a new temporary, ad-hoc Subcommittee be established consisting of two (2) City Councilmembers to assist with programmatic feedback on proposed community forums, community engagement/participation activities, and any future services related to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation award , with an expiration date of December 31, 2018.  City Council appointments would be made to the Subcommittee in January 2018 pursuant to SPMC 2.16.070 requirements.
