BACKGROUND

At the September 17, 2018 City Council meeting, on motion made by Mayor Calloway and affirmed by majority vote, the City Council voted to add an agenda item to the next regular City Council meeting to consider amending Resolution 2018-100 to change the composition criteria for the Childhood Obesity Prevention Advisory Group (COPAG) to increase the potential for qualified candidates from the general public, as follows:

Excerpt from City Council Resolution #2018-100 adopted on 07/02/18 amended, as follows:

Composition:  five (5) total members: three (3/5) appointed from the former COPTF affiliated organizations; and two (2/5) members from the community/general public. previously affiliated with former COPTF membership. All community/general public appointments must meet a San Pablo residency requirement.

The City Manager recommends that the attached Resolution be adopted for this change to become effective immediately to enable the community/general public to be considered for  appointment to the COPAG.

COPAG Applicants to Date

Currently, a total of three (3) applicants have filed interest applications with the City Clerk’s Office for formal consideration by the City Council for COPAG appointments.  Two of three (2/3) applications received to date meet current eligibility requirements for appointment by the City Council per City Council Resolution #2018-100 at this time.  Should the City Council change the composition criteria under City Council Resolution #2018-100, all applications received would be eligible for formal consideration by the City Council for official appointment following a formal interview process to be scheduled later in the posted agenda this evening.
