BACKGROUND
On October 2, 2023, the City Council adopted the Proposed 2024 City Council / Local Successor Agency / Joint Powers Financing Authority Meeting Calendar for all regular, public meetings scheduled during Calendar Year 2024. The City Council approved this 2024 meeting schedule by majority vote via minute action (See Attachment)
Following adoption, all proposed regular meeting dates for Calendar Year 2024 are subject to change, and special meetings may also be scheduled at any time in accordance with SPMC Sections 2.16.020, 2.16.030, and 2.16.040 and applicable noticing requirements under the Ralph M. Brown Act.
Proposed Revision to 2024 Meeting Calendar
This evening, the City Manager is recommending cancellation of the City Council / Local Successor Agency regular meeting date scheduled on Monday, December 2, 2024. Currently, this regular meeting date falls on the succeeding Monday after the observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday week.
Unfortunately, this poses a very condensed, short work-week for City staff to adequately prepare, finalize and post the City Council regular meeting agenda since all City Administrative Offices are closed on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday observance pursuant to adopted employee labor MOU agreements in effect. Additionally, City Administrative Offices are scheduled to be closed on Friday, November 29, 2024.
Therefore, due to these operational considerations, if City Council approves the cancellation of the December 2, 2024 regular meeting, then there will be a need to schedule a Special City Council meeting on Monday, December 9, 2024 to conduct official City Agenda Business, and to allow for formal posting of the City Council Agenda for compliance with the Ralph M. Brown Act.
Note: Per the current adopted CY 2024 Meeting Calendar, the City Council Regular Meeting / Rotational Ceremony is scheduled on Monday, December 16, 2024 following certification of the November 5, 2024 Municipal Election Results. Typically, no official City Council agenda business are scheduled during this regularly scheduled City Council meeting (i.e. ceremonial rotation event only).

A Revised 2024 City Council / Local Successor Agency / Joint Powers Financing Authority Meeting Calendar is attached to this staff report and requires City Council review and majority vote approval via minute action vote this evening (See Attachment)
