BACKGROUND

The Information Technology (IT) Division is working to setup network connectivity at the new PD building. Wired and wireless network connectivity are critical in establishing a modern and reliable IT infrastructure to support operational and public safety needs. To ensure robust connectivity, IT staff is recommending the purchase and deployment of new network equipment in the new PD building. The proposed equipment will provide reliable, high-performance capabilities for years to come.

 

PURCHASING

This purchase is in accordance with City of San Pablo Municipal Code Chapter 3.16, pursuant to the cooperative purchasing exemption in Section 3.16.110(E), which allows the City to join with other governmental agencies for the joint purchase of equipment, materials, supplies and services or to buy from another public agency’s competitive contract without the City undertaking its own competitive bidding process.

 

The California Multiple Award Schedules (CMAS) offers a wide variety of commodity IT products at prices which have been assessed to be fair, reasonable, and competitive. IT Management Corporation has a CMAS Contract (#3-24-09-1065) that is valid from September 30, 2024 through September 26, 2029 for the sale of Ruckus Wireless products.

 

Staff requests City Council authority to execute the purchase pursuant to the terms and conditions of the CMAS Contract #3-24-09-1065.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

The total Purchase Order encumbrance of $81,085.42 will be appropriated from the new San Pablo Police Department Headquarters Project Budget Fund 320 (320-0104-43600: GFD-422) for the purchase of Ruckus ICX 8200 network switches, Ruckus R670 WiFi access points, and Ruckus One licenses using CMAS Contract #3-24-09-1065.
