Continue Fiscal Resilience, Fiscal Excellence and Fiscal Transparency is an adopted City Council Priority contained in the adopted Fiscal Year 2023-2025 City Council Priority Workplan, effective May 1, 2023.
BACKGROUND
The development and preparation of the City's budget follows a budget planning calendar to ensure structure and order in the development, approval, and adoption of the annual or multi-year city budget pursuant to the City Manager's budget authority under Section 2.04.220 of San Pablo Municipal Code (SPMC) requirements.
The budget planning calendar is a schedule of dates by which budget milestones must be met. The calendar also contains the dates of budget meetings, such as initial planning meetings with all City Operating Departments, subsequent review meetings with the City Manager's Office and budget presentation dates for both the Budget, Fiscal & Standing Standing Committee (BFLSC) and City Council.
On December 18, 2023, City Council approved by minute order the budget calendar for the Fiscal Years 2024/25 - 2026/27 triennial GF budget. Due to a staff retirement and Council availability, the City Manager is proposing an amendment to the budget calendar. The proposed changes to the budget calendar are as follows and is attached:
* April 15, 2024 - City Council Sets Budget Public Hearing to May 1, 2024 (Special City Council Meeting).
* April 29, 2024 - Budget Fiscal and Legislative Standing Committee Reviews the Preliminary Draft Budget.
* May 1, 2024 - City Council Conducts Scheduled Public Budget Hearing for the Preliminary Draft Budget (Special City Council Meeting).
